1. Agreeable Grey by Sherwin-Williams

This is not only one of my favourite bathroom colours, but it's also one of my favourite neutrals. A gorgeous balance of warm and cool tones, this colour goes with absolutely everything! I've used it in bedrooms, kitchens, living rooms, and bathrooms, and it looks fantastic everywhere. No matter the fixtures, accessories, or furniture in a room, this colour will look fabulous!

2. Adrift by Sherwin-Williams

I love a gorgeous blue in any room, but particularly in a bathroom. Adrift by Sherwin-Williams is a very soothing shade. If you're looking for a serene, spa-like feel in your bathroom, this is the colour for you. It pairs particularly well with whites and greys, so if you've got a Carrara marble-looking porcelain tile or quartz countertop, consider this gorgeous shade for your bathroom.

3. Shades of White

All-white bathrooms will always look fresh, timeless, classic, and clean. There are so many different shades of white, such as Decorators White, Oxford White or Cloud White, all by Benjamin Moore. These are all fabulous shades with just a subtle warmness to them without those horrible yellow undertones. You can even pair any of those colours with super white on the doors and trim to add a bit of contrast.

4. Tranquility by Benjamin Moore

You can't go wrong with a blue-green shade for bathrooms. Tranquility contrasts beautifully with a black accent tile. It also has a beautiful grey undertone. This colour will give you a beautiful spa-like feel and enough elegance to give it some depth.

5. Dark Navy

If you're looking for an accent wall in your bathroom, consider going with a dark navy, particularly the wall behind the vanity. Consider Hale Navy by Benjamin Moore or Naval by Sherwin-Williams. This colour will really showcase a beautiful white vanity. It also shows well against a light grey marble-looking countertop or tile floor. Consider accents in the bathroom in gold, brass, or copper to pair beautifully with this dark blue and white.

6. Kid Gloves by Benjamin Moore

Although many swear that shades of beige are out, you can't go wrong with a soft tone. Consider Kid Gloves by Benjamin Moore as a terrific neutral with warm and cozy undertones. This very soft colour can make even a small bathroom feel luxurious.

7. Hollingsworth Green by Benjamin Moore

Pastels are starting to make a comeback and can make any bathroom feel like a spa. Consider a seafoam green colour such as Hollingsworth Green by Benjamin Moore. This soft green pairs well with white and beige.

8. Benjamin Moore’s Paris Romance

Although pink isn't for everyone, Benjamin Moore's Paris Romance can be a really flirty colour when paired with white beadboard and white fixtures in a bathroom. It's a subtle, soft colour that provides a delicate backdrop against silver accessories and a white vanity with white beadboard on the walls. With just the right amount of colour on the walls, it can create a very charming look for a bathroom.

9. Veiled Violet by Sherwin-Williams

Veiled Violet by Sherwin-Williams is a colour I've used several times in my clients bathrooms. It pairs beautifully with whites, greys, and blacks. Use the black sparingly as accents; keep the white for your fixtures, including the vanity; and use the grey for your tile, flooring, and countertop. This is a fabulous combination that you can't go wrong with. The subtle pink, purple, and grey undertones of the paint make this a win for any bathroom!

10. Black

Yes, you heard that right—black can be a fabulous colour of paint to use in a bathroom. Picture this: all white fixtures with a white vanity; gold handles accent the vanity; and two gold-trimmed sconces flank the mirror. White subway tiles line the walls of the shower with a medium grey grout. Carrara marble-looking porcelain tiles are on the floor of the bathroom. Now look up at the ceiling to see gorgeously rich black paint. This will make the white and airy environment of the bathroom feel formal and intimate.

Want to take it up another notch? Consider painting the wall behind the vanity black, either as well as the ceiling or instead of the ceiling.

In summary…

Don't be afraid to go bold with your colours. After all, if you really don't like it, it's just a can of paint. This is one thing about a renovation that can easily be changed.

Don't be afraid to get inventive with your colours in the bathroom. Although I encourage my clients to stick with neutral colours for most of their homes, bedrooms and bathrooms are where you can experiment a little. A few simple changes with a can of paint can create an entirely new vibe in a bathroom. Think of your bathroom as a place to relax and unwind, or if it's the place where you get ready to go to work in the morning, consider it a place for boosting your energy. Either way, there's a paint colour that's right for you. Think about the mood you want in your bathroom and pursue that feeling when selecting your paint colour.
