Opting for a contemporary and simple look, shaker style cabinets in a painted lacquer finish updated the look of the kitchen. The cabinets were done in Balboa Mist, a wonderfully neutral Benjamin Moore colour. Balboa Mist has beige undertones which makes it very traditional and formal. It creates a substantial presence in a room without being overwhelming.

A Silestone countertop was selected with electric thick veins and a grayish background. Bianco Calacatta brings a dramatic effect to this contemporary kitchen.

Simple subway tiles were installed as the backsplash and kept the space simple and clean.

LED pot lights were installed throughout the kitchen on dimmers and and two large pendant lights were installed above the island.

A couple of unique features were utilized in this kitchen. One of the deep pot and pan drawers were used to store dishware. Pegs were installed so the plates and bowls wouldn’t shift around within the drawer. The mixer was stored inside of a cabinet on a pullout making it easy to access when needed but tucked out of the way when not in use.

The luxury vinyl plank flooring in this home was relatively new and our clients really liked the look of it. We were able to re-use in the kitchen and just remove and re-install as necessary.

The end result was a simple yet sophisticated kitchen our clients found functional and esthetically pleasing. What’s your favourite part of this kitchen?

A peek into some of our other projects

Oshawa Kitchen Renovation

We recently completed a kitchen and 3 bathrooms for our clients in North Oshawa. What made this project special for us is that the clients are also friends.

They called us to say they were thinking of purchasing a new home but would want a lot of renovations to be done. Before they made an offer, they wanted to see how much to expect the renos to cost.

We met them on site of their future home and we could quickly see why they needed some renos done. The kitchen was small and pink!! Yes, you read that right…the kitchen cupboards were pink!

The bathrooms looked ok and were functional but not really the looks our clients and friends wanted. The house overall and the property were exactly what they needed so we prepared a quick quote to let them know what to expect.

The first project we started with was the kitchen. Originally a U-shaped kitchen, our client wanted to open up the space, get rid of the small breakfast area and put in a large island with an overhang.
